Sitting with my thoughts

Hello 🙂

Thank you for stopping by to read my page. So, I’ve had this page set up for about a month now and have been putting off publishing my first post as I didn’t know what I wanted to start with… and I still don’t. But I’m biting the bullet now and going to press publish! I thought why not start with why I want to write a blog, what you can expect to read about and a little bit about me!

Let start with a little bit about me…I’m a 30-something year old British Gujarati Hindu girl, and am currently looking to meet the one. The plan was to have been married with a couple of babies by now, but you know what they say: “If you want to make God laugh, make a plan!” Not being where I thought I’d be has given me a LOT of time to think about a lot of things! Which brings me to why I wanted to start a blog.

As mentioned above, I’ve had a lot of time to think about a lot of things and I was having a conversation with a friend of mine a few months ago about being single during lockdown and he said to me that there must be so many people feeling like I do that don’t have anyone to talk to or share their feelings with. This is why I decided to start this blog – I want people to know they aren’t alone, and even if one person reads this and resonates with what I’m going to be writing about or feels like there is someone else out there who “gets it”, then that’s my mission accomplished!

Although the idea started from me having a moan about the trials and tribulations of online dating during lockdown, rest assured that my blog posts
aren’t going to be essays about the woes of singlehood and dating in 2020. I want to share my thoughts on everything from the pressure we put on ourselves
as women; dating; unwanted advice and opinions from friends and the olds alike; friendships and just my thoughts and experiences on trying to figure out life and love in the hope to resonate with anyone that feels the same.

I also want to use this platform to share books/quotes/techniques that I’ve used when the thoughts in my head have gotten a little too overwhelming. I have
dealt with anxiety in the past, and as anyone else who has will know, it does lurk and creep up on you sometimes even when you think you’ve “dealt” with it.
By NO means whatsoever do I think I can give out advice, but I will share what has made me feel better in case anyone wants to give it a go. This is also
another reason why I’m starting this blog – for it to be my little space on the internet to express how I’m feeling through writing. Some of you may wonder why I’m just not keeping a personal journal, but I want this to be available to anyone who might be feeling the same in the hope that they feel heard and less alone in this rollercoaster we call life.

So there it is, a little intro to Sitting With Our Thoughts! Oh, and a little side note on the name of the blog – it’s something I do a lot of – just sit there with the thoughts going on in my head.  It took me a while to think of the name, but I heard Michelle Obama say it on her 1st podcast and it just felt right…! And I thought if it’s a phrase Michelle Obama uses then it’s a good one… (I do love her a little bit!).  If you’ve made it to the end of this, then thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy what I share next 🙂
